What should you ask before connecting a voice assistant?
Specific questions about tasks, pricing and customer data.

What tasks will it perform?
Ask to see a conversation relevant to your business. Distinguish answering a common question from capturing a request or taking action in another system. Calendar bookings and order-status checks require a suitable connection.
What is included in the offer?
Clarify setup fees, the subscription, call charges and integrations separately. Ask for the included volumes and the terms for increased usage in writing.
What happens if the assistant cannot answer?
Agree which questions a staff member should handle. Test both call forwarding and callback requests where they are part of your chosen solution.
Where does customer data go?
Find out which service providers process the data, what they receive and how long they retain it. A conversation transcript and an audio recording are not the same thing.
How can you check advertising figures?
Look for the source, date, sample size and limitations behind a figure. Ask whether it reflects this product’s results or another study. Compare what was actually measured.
How should you make a decision?
Before launch, try common questions and more difficult situations. Record errors and check the fixes. Base your choice on your own workflow, not just the impression a demonstration makes.
